the future is important

Video installation

The video installation the future is important uses linguistic formulations from the Swedish education system and touches on the idea of social engineering. The work is based on a political bill presented in 2001 by the then Minister of Education Ingegerd Wärnersson, whose proposal aimed at implementing career coaching for children from the age of six, to better adapt them to the future labor market. The lines in the films are copied from a syllabus designed for preschoolers.

The installation the future is important consists of six monitors, where the approximately 1 minute long performances are looped without interruption.
